Child Connections

Happy Thanksgiving all~ be you from the United States or not, it's nice to be thankful for all you have.
It's also nice to be home. I've never been so happy to see my bed ever. It's also never been so comfy.
I find it funny, upon returning home suddenly dare I want something I get it. My mom actually told me to put more stuff on my Christmas list.
Dad still hates my guts, but that's alright.
Something really interesting happened though at the family Thanksgiving festival...festival? Meeting. Meeting. Dinner? Dinner there we go. Wow. Words broke. Thanks brain. It's only 8.
But we had dinner at my aunt's home. She has a really nice house on a big hill with a huge yard, pool, deck, and three wonderful dogs.
Tippy:

Honey:

And Midnight:

I was just hanging outside with them, like I usually do, and my little cousin Jonathan came outside. He's a bit of a troublemaker and enjoys to just run run run, be it to safety or not. And it's normally not. He was first outside with his dad, my cousin, who probably shouldn't have had his kids, but has them now anyway. At least he somewhat tries to take care of them....somewhat.
Anyway, he ended up leaving but small child wanted to stay outside. He knows for certain that I am terrible with children. I end up hurting them or breaking them in some way, plus I just don't know how to talk to them. Animals click with me much quicker and easier.
So, he vanished and small child came up to join me. I was throwing a squeaky football for Tippy and he wanted to try. He threw it a few times but Tippy seemed done with it. Then he swung on a tree for a bit. Not once did he attempt to sprint away from me and seemed to listen to all that I said.
I found out one thing that the rest of my family doesn't actually believe. Jon likes nature more than toys.
I feel that's really where we clicked. Dare I ever gain children I'd assume that'd be what they were like. Thrilled more by a bush and sticks than by a speaking dump truck. He was happy and leaping around like a normal child but was enjoying the grass and the trees and the outside air more than the fenced in "cage" of sorts full of toys.
So, unlike most children today, he's more imagination and nature driven.
Exactly how I was as a kid.
It was really interesting. He's a slow learner when it comes to conversing, so speaking is difficult for him, but everything about nature, birds, trees, the dogs, grass, the creek, I could understand clearly. It was odd, considering everything else I could barely get.
I even taught him the word hollow.
He was smart enough to figure that half of the stick he called his sword wasn't hollow.
A hawk cawed out above us and both of us looked up at it. They say he has a short attention span, but we watched that hawk for ages as it soared around above us. They've just been giving him the wrong things to pay attention to.
The kid just wants to be a kid, the type of kid I and many others grew up as. Outdoorsy, exploring, investigative, imagining....
They give him toys and he plays with them and enjoys them but there's something he enjoys more. He begged his dad for over an hour to go down to the creek with him after dinner. And when his father was late upon delivering, he complained and groaned and begged even more. He came back giddy and excited with tales of the creek, while his dad and his friend complained about it being cold. Jon might've been cold, but he couldn't tell with the amount of fun he was having.
Though, when I presented my little findings, they looked at me with one of those smiles that say, "Nice to hear that, but we're with him more so we know him better etc etc etc..." So no one really listened. Or well... heard.
He appreciates nature more than the average little kid, which really warms my heart considering most kids I know. Plus he's able to amuse himself on his own, something difficult for most kids.
I guess they'll just have to wait for him to gain full speaking abilities to state that he likes trees more than toys. He didn't care how cold it was outside, he just wanted to be out there. That's always good in my book.
It'll be interesting to see him grow up for the small amount of time left that I wish to be in contact with my family. Kinda sucks. Maybe we'll meet up some odd time in the future... in Yosemite or something.
Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving from Frost and Psych! Enjoy your food if you're from the United States, enjoy the things your thankful for wherever else.
If it's not Thanksgiving when you read this, be thankful for things anyway. There doesn't need to be a day to remind you of the things you're thankful for.
And enjoy Black Friday and unofficial Friendsgiving tomorrow! (Or not tomorrow considering when you read this) Friendsgiving, the day after Thanksgiving where you gather with friends and eat leftovers, or in my case this year: pizza. I has no leftovers!

God I love this cat. Enjoy the rest of your day here on the internet!

Innocent...Life?

Or better known as Innocent Life : A Futuristic Harvest moon, is what you'd expect it; A harvest moon...for PSP.

As far as I know there are very few "Harvest moon" games for the PSP (3 according to the wikia). And Innocent Life...leaves much to be desired.

But let's start off positive, shall we?

  1. The animations are smooth and the locations are not under-stylized nor over-stylized.
  2. Farming is relatively simple.
  3. Dungeon crawling is more of a part in this game when compared to other Harvest Moons.
  4. An interesting story line.
  5. "Cute" character sprites .
  6. The music is...okay.
And...well...That's about all I could see. Onto tearing this game apart.
The story line is interesting but doesn't make any sense if you don't play the game exactly as it wants to be played (which, let me tell you is not easy to figure out). You are a Robot. Trying to become human. By saving an island from a volcano.

. . .

Wat.
Sorry, but I don't know of anyway that can turn a robot into a human. You even have a "Human" meter that you gain skills in (not actually like these matter. No one treats you differently if you have a high love level, no dialogue changes if you max out your cooking skill...). The story line is...difficult to play out exactly as it wants you to. I ended up missing a big part of the game because I didn't talk to someone during the right season. But unlike most other games, that didn't stop me from progressing. Leaving a whole big chunk of the story missing and lost forever unless I restarted playing. Sorry. Not gonna do that.
Did I mention that every in-game Sunday, you have to go to get "maintenance"? Yeah. Eventually you fall into the horrible Harvest Moon routine - sleep, water, harvest, sleep, water, harvest, and so on. This maintenance every Sunday was the only thing reminding me there were days calculated. It got annoying.

The seemingly worse part of this game that I could find...is that farming is useless once you get so far into it. You'll find yourself sitting on a huge pile of cash with nothing to spend it on. Dungeon crawling replaces Farming and taking care of livestock ( I didn't even have any livestock, didn't need to, had already found everything else in the game), which doesn't make sense for a Harvest moon.

Over all, the game is trying too hard to be good, and trying too hard to be different from something that already works well. If you take the Harvest out of Harvest Moon...well...you're not left with much.

D'aww look, it's a heart.

Weird Occurrences... (not ghosty this time!)

A few odd things have been going on. They may be seen as "normal college things" but they've now got security and a few of the higher up worker people in on it now so... yeah. It's a little weird.
Yesterday, I found some people hiding in the bathroom.
Kinda interesting, kinda normal seeming, but the thing was that they were random guys who were hiding in the one shower thing and when I said a curious, "Hello?" they slowly shut the door.
They eventually got caught by our RA.
No one knew why they were hiding there though. Or how they got in. At the time I had been in one of the bathrooms and I heard the door open, just thinking it was a girl and her boyfriend talking while walking past the door as someone entered. Though, there were no footsteps after the door shut, and it was due to them sneaking into one of the bathrooms to hide.
Also, as of late people have been moving things around on our floor. Posters, papers, stickers... papers from inside of our bathroom (One's saying, Hey! Please flush the toilet! and Clean your bloody hair out of the shower! Bigfoot didn't bathe here!) were on our door the other day. And other peoples.
Now that's just sounding like immature college students, which is true.
Yet, yesterday, going out to get some water, I found my roommate's cupcake (our name tag, in a sense) halfway down the hall. I got water and then returned the cupcake to its rightful place. Upon returning to the room I told her that I found it down the hall and we grumbled and shook our heads and continued with what we were doing. Not even two minutes later, she gets up to go to the bathroom and goes out. When she returns, she had put her cupcake back in its rightful place, yet again.
Now I had just done that, so whoever moved it again (all the way down the hall this time) had to have been there and seen it and/or it was a really surprising coincidence. They just happened to stroll by when I returned it to the right place.
That was sort of unsettling, brought more unsettling by the random guys hiding in our bathroom, fairly willingly let in.
Oh people, why? I try to trust you, then you let weird hidey guys into our bathroom and random other people live in your room.
Yeah, down the hall, one girl's roommate moved out (or something along those lines) and then two guys, who live on the 9th floor, moved in. They don't have a key so her room's left unlocked a lot but... it's kinda odd.
Weird occurrences. I'm curious how many of these people will return next semester. A lot appear to be leaving.
I also have math at 8:50am next semester. I will not be able to succeed in that class. I am already terrible at mornings and math, why put them together?

Take me there.
